Hi There 👋🏼

From the team at Third Space Indigenous Corporation we wanted to say hi!

This is our first post on our new blog forum. Here we will be discussing and showcasing the journeys our members and partners embark on. We will keep this first post short but we are excited to bring more content to this space and share our perspectives as an Indigenous business and operating NFP in the Technology, Mining and Recruitment space.

Firstly, let us answer a few questions as to who is Third Space Indigenous Corporation and why we exist.

WHO

Third Space Indigenous Corporation is a 100% Indigenous owned & managed, not-for-profit Information Technology, Communications , Mining and Recruitment Company.

Third Space Indigenous Corporation is based in Derby, WA. Our work is centred around assisting and empowering Indigenous peoples by mediating meaningful economic outcomes and encouraging personal growth through facilitating social endeavours and sustaining outcomes by creating long lasting partnerships between communities and enterprise. What does this mean?

WHAT

Lets break down the above.

  • “Empowering Indigenous peoples” - To give a sense of self-independence. If I may use a car analogy, this would supporting our partners and communities in not just bringing them along for the ride, but letting them steer the vehicle, Third Space Indigenous Corporation just offers all the safety technology such as Lane Keep Assist to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely to the intended destination or otucome.

  • “By mediating meaningful economic outcomes” - Third Space Indigenous Corporation recognises self-independence importance, including financial self-independence being one pillar to Indigenous communities achieving strong, positive social outcomes.

This doesn’t mean to be a profit generating behemoth, rather have enough investments paying dividends to ensure stability in communities to weather any negative funding cycles incurred and allow for each communities visions and goals to be realised.

  • “Encouraging personal growth through facilitating social endeavours and sustaining outcomes" - Community outcomes can’t be realized without individual’s involvement. Third Space take the time to listen to our members, partners and stakeholders to identify where we can best serve our communities. This could be in the form of sitting down having a coffee, jumping on a phone call or discussing community led projects. A key component to this is sustainability, in the sense of continued support, and consistency in our relationships.

  • “Creating long lasting partnerships between communities and enterprise” - Indigenous and Non-Indigenous peoples do share differences but we at Third Space believe in a harmonious outcome, where culture can be protected and celebrated and social or economical outcomes can be realised safely.

WHY?

Our founding members decided to create Third Space Indigenous Corporation after discussing why our people and communities were struggling and not moving forward in rapidly expanding industries and markets, we believed Indigenous peoples could influence and shape social, economic and political forums if access was granted and supporting systems provided. This led to identifying a gap in a commercial market, Aboriginal representation in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) space, whereby we aim to educate and assist Aboriginal communities, stakeholders and partners on how to best increase connectivity and leverage future technologies. This has since lead to identifying other opportunities in the civil and mining industry and recruitment/labour sectors, where Third Space knowledge and skills are highly transferable.
